The 2020 Awards ceremony will be aired as a virtual online broadcast on the 12th Nov 2020 and this will be FREE to watch. Due to the coronavirus situation and how it has affected the industry this year, we have reduced the number of awards to 12 and chosen categories to better reflect this historic year.

The 2020 UKLDA awards covers the time period between 13th October 2019 and 12th October 2020.

***Rising Star – This award is to recognise those individuals who, whilst not yet widely known in the industry, have a solid understanding of, and are actively working to improve, the Line Dancing industry.  These are the ‘ones to watch’. This nomination also requires a reason.

UK Beginner Dance – For 2020 this is an award for your favourite beginner dance ‘of all time’.  It does not matter who it was choreographed by, or where they are from, what matters is that it’s the beginner dance that you love, that will always get you up on your feet.

UK Improver Dance – For 2020 this is an award for your favourite Improver dance ‘of all time’.  It doesn’t matter who it was choreographed by, or where they are from, what matters is that it’s the Improver dance that you love, that will always get you up on your feet.

UK Intermediate and Above Dance – For 2020 this is an award for your favourite Intermediate and above dance ‘of all time’.  It doesn’t matter who it was choreographed by, or where they are from, what matters is that it’s the Intermediate and above dance that you love, that will always get you up on your feet.

UK Club of the Year – This award is to recognise the clubs that regularly run line dance events and/or that actively supported members during lockdown.

Line Dance Track of the Year – This award is for the music.  It can be a Country or non-Country track, UK or International; the only requirement is that a line dance that is regularly danced in the UK industry has been choreographed to it.

UK Performing Artist – This award is for the UK based line dance performing artists that we all love to dance to.  It could be your favourite touring country soloist/duo/band or an online streaming artist that you discovered during lockdown and loved.

UK Virtual Instructor – 2020 has seen the rise of the ‘Virtual Instructor’.  Everyday teachers that have taken their craft online through ELD, Facebook, Zoom, YouTube or any other method to reach their students and beyond.  Who really made the grade and kept you dancing through lockdown?

UK Choreographer – An award for UK based choreographers.   Which UK choreographer got you out of your chair and dancing this year?

UK Grassroots Instructor – This is an award for the teachers out there who teach week in and week out in halls, classrooms, council rooms and a myriad of other locations.  The Grassroots instructor doesn’t need to be a ‘big name’.  Nominate your local instructor and see them recognised for their efforts.

UK Dance of the Year – What is your favourite dance that is regularly being danced in 2020?  That floor filler that you can’t sit down for.  It can be for any level of dance, to Country music or that massive summer hit song. It can be new or old, it’s the one that has meant the most to you this year.

***The Lockdown Award:  Nominated with reasons, voted for by the Panel.  This award is to recognise those that  have gone above and beyond during lockdown.  You can nominate anyone within the UK industry, for any reason you believe deserves recognition.

*** Nominated with reasons, Category where a panel vote is required but will still have a public vote and this will count towards the final result.
